Cookie Notice

Last Updated · 06 May 2026

This Cookie Notice explains how Looklab (operated by Max Lang Inc., a New York corporation) uses cookies, local storage, and similar technologies on https://www.look-lab.ai and its subdomains (the "Service"). It supplements our Privacy Notice and forms part of our Terms of Use.

You can update your choice at any time by opening (also linked in the footer of every page).

1. What are cookies?

A "cookie" is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. "Similar technologies" include browser localStorage, sessionStorage, and pixels — they accomplish much the same thing. Throughout this notice we use "cookies" as shorthand for all of them.

Cookies can be set by the site you're visiting (first-party) or by a third party whose service the site embeds (third-party). They can last only for the current browser session (session cookies) or persist across visits (persistent cookies).

2. Categories we use

Looklab groups cookies into two categories. Strictly-necessary cookies are always on; analytics cookies only load if you allow them via the consent banner.

2.1 Strictly necessary

Required for the Service to function. We rely on these for sign-in, in-progress generations, and remembering your cookie preference. They cannot be switched off in our consent banner because the app will not work without them. The main entries are:

  • Authentication tokens (browser localStorage, first-party). Keep you signed in across page loads. Persist until you sign out or the session expires (typically one week unless you re-authenticate).
  • Trial-link token (localStorage, first-party). Stored as looklab.trialToken when a trial-access URL is opened. Persists until you sign in to a real account or clear it; cleared automatically on sign-in / sign-out events.
  • Cookie consent record (localStorage, first-party). Stored as looklab.cookieConsent. Remembers which categories you accepted so we don't ask you again. Persists until you change your preference or clear browser storage.
  • Per-user gallery state (localStorage, first-party). Stored under creative_studio_results_v2__<userId> and similar keys. Holds your in-progress generations so you don't lose them on refresh. Persists until you sign out or clear browser storage.

2.2 Analytics

Only loaded if you accept the "Analytics" category. We use these to understand how people use the Service in aggregate — which features get clicked, where users drop off, performance metrics — so we can improve it. We do not use these cookies for advertising or to build cross-site profiles. IP addresses are anonymized and no analytics cookie is set unless you explicitly grant the Analytics category. Retention: up to 14 months.

Looklab does not currently use marketing, advertising, social, or fingerprinting cookies. If that ever changes we will update this notice and the consent banner will re-prompt for your choice.

3. Third parties that may set cookies on their own domain

Some services we rely on (for example, our payment processor at checkout) operate on their own domains. They set cookies on those domains when you interact with them — Looklab does not control those cookies, and you would manage them via the third party in question, on their domain, subject to their own cookie policy. Authentication tokens for signed-in users are stored on your device by us, not by a third party (see Section 2.1).

4. How to manage your choice

When you visit Looklab for the first time, a banner asks whether you accept the Analytics category. Strictly-necessary cookies are always on. You have three options:

  • Accept all — Necessary + Analytics.
  • Reject all — only Necessary; no Analytics cookies are set.
  • Customize — toggle Analytics individually.

You can change your choice at any time:

  • Click (also in the footer).
  • Or clear looklab.cookieConsent from your browser's localStorage — the banner will reappear.
  • Your browser also lets you block or delete cookies globally. See aboutcookies.org for instructions per browser. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies may break parts of the Service (you may not be able to sign in).

Withdrawing consent does not affect data already collected before withdrawal. If you switch Analytics off after previously allowing it, the analytics signal is immediately downgraded and the analytics tooling stops setting or reading cookies.

5. EU / UK users

Under the EU ePrivacy Directive (and the UK PECR), non-essential cookies require your prior consent. The consent banner Looklab displays satisfies that requirement. You can withdraw consent as easily as you gave it via the Cookie Settings link in the footer or this page.

For more on how Looklab handles personal data more broadly — including data subject rights under the GDPR — see our Privacy Notice.

6. Updates to this notice

We may update this Cookie Notice from time to time. When we make a material change — for example adding a new category of cookies — we will update the "Last Updated" date and re-prompt for consent via the banner.
